WIZARDS

Hello and Welcome to the 2010 Wizards Program.

Please read carefully as there is a lot of information below.

The Wizards program is a "camp" type atmosphere where we teach the fundamentals of throwing, fielding, hitting and running the bases. Our emphasis is on FUN-fundamentals-fun.

The program is a player and partner/parent based one, so that the things we teach in our one hour sessions can be re-enforced by the partner/parent in the backyard. So each "Wizard" will need to be accompanied by a parent or partner

We use terms like "pinkies up" to catch fly balls and "pinkies down" "Alligator Snap" to catch grounders We say "squish the bug" when hitting and "buzzing bees" when throwing.

The one hour program is on Sundays. Three different one hour sessions are available and the program is six weeks long. Your child will be placed in a session based upon age and your schedule, but if your schedule changes you can attend any one of the three sessions, as we teach/play/have fun (basically the same thing) in each session.

The Wizards Program is set to start Sunday May 9 and run until Sunday June 20. (Skipping the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend)

Here are the dates.

  • Sunday, May  9th
  • Sunday, May 16th
  • Sunday, May 23rd
  • Sunday, June  6th
  • Sunday, June 13th
  • Sunday, June 20th

There will be three sessions per day.

  • 12:30 -1:45pm (5 year olds with the last name starting with "A" thru "J"
  • 2:00 - 3:15pm (5 year olds with last names starting with "K" thru "Z"
  • 3:30 - 4:45 pm (all 4 year olds)

If this is a conflict with your schedule do not worry. Just call me and we will work something out. If you are okay with your time slot but need to come to a different session for one week that is no problem. Just let me know.

We will have two/three water breaks per session and a treat at the end of the session. We are going to keep up the tradition of "Wizard Magic Tricks" at the end of each session.

Rick Burton and the late Tom Innis along with many others have put their hearts and souls into this program and my daughter and I are going to make sure their legacy of fun and fundamentals are carried on.

Coaching Staff:

  • My daughter Jennifer and Julie Parr (both former Milford High School Varsity softball players) and I have worked in the program for the last three years. Both Jennifer and Julie were asked to play softball at Wilmington College.
  • Brandon Campbell, a Junior at Wilmington College and is in his second year
  • Hillary and Hannah Woodall (current Milford High School softball players) are also in their second year.

We will have five to six "coaches" each week which translates to about five to six "Wizards" per coach. The player and partner/parent both receive hats and the player gets a Wizards shirt to wear to "practice" and to keep.

We will supply all of the equipment needed except for a glove. I will repeat, a glove is all the Wizards need to bring.

If you have any other questions please call me at home (513) 722-0440 after 8:00 pm.

Thank you for your interest in our "Wizards" Program.
