Milford Softball Managers Requirements: 

      1) All returning or aspiring MYBA managers or coaches  
          need to complete the Manager’s Application Form
      2) All managers and up to two assistant coaches  
          are required to complete the
          2023 Background Check Information 
      3) All managers are to renew or initiate their  
          membership with NYSCA

      4) Managers are responsible for the collection of the 
          following uniform items at seasons end:
          8U, 9U - shorts
          10U, 12U, 14U, HS - shirts, pants/shorts      
     
      5) Fundraising- Participate and assist MYBA with our  
          fundraising campaigns
      6) Field Day- Assist on Field Day with getting the park   
          ready for the upcoming season

Manager/Coaches applications, Background Check Forms and NYSCA Certification need to be completed each season prior to being assigned a practice field or game schedule.

Coaches Certification
MYBA requires each manager and coach within the Softball,  Community & Knothole Baseball programs to be certified to coach youth athletes.  This is a very important aspect of our program which helps assure that each athlete receives a positive experience.  It also serves as a foundation for developing coaches with a strong appreciation for both the youth athlete's needs and expectations as well as the basic fundamentals of the sport.  The coach training and certification program selected by MYBA is provided by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA).  It is a nationally respected program that MYBA has been associated with for many years.  The link for the NYSCA coach certification is: http://www.nays.org/coaches/

Once the site opens, the coach will have the option of selecting the appropriate level of training: Initial Level Membership, Continuing Membership, & Gold Level Certification.  Simply read and follow the easy directions for proceeding.  New coaches or uncertified coaches must select the Initial Level Membership process.  Coaches with prior certification through NYSCA should select the Continuing Membership process.  All members or certified coaches will be notified prior to the expiration of their current membership near their anniversary date. 

Membership in NYSCA is part of the certification process.  To become a member through the NYSCA Online Clinics, coaches must participate in an interactive online clinic, complete an online exam, and sign a pledge committing them to uphold the NYSCA Code of Ethics.  The membership fee for the NYSCA Online Clinics
is $25. 

Coaches will find this training very helpful.  The realistic 3-D graphics and video instruction perfectly illustrate and demonstrate training sessions, drills and games.  The team of professional educators includes psychologists, authors, lecturers, athletic trainers, nutritionists, physicians, administrators, and expert coaches.  This team brings broad insight into working with youth athletes at all levels across all sports

Make-Up Game Request
 

In the event that a game needs to be rescheduled the home team is responsible to contact the Field Scheduler.  Prior to contacting the Field Scheduler BOTH COACHES NEED TO AGREE ON A COUPLE OF DATES TO MAKE UP THE GAME  These dates are to be included with the request.  All requests need to be submitted a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the requested day to make up the game.  This allows time to schedule umpires and prepare the fields.  In the event that a game needs to be cancelled on the day of the game please contact the Field Scheduler, Umpire Coordinator and Field Crew.
